Stefania Bulbarella is a projection designer whose work spans musicals, plays, and operas. Her designs have earned her a 2024 Tony Award nomination and a 2026 Lucille Lortel nomination for Outstanding Projection Design. On Broadway, her work has appeared most recently in Jeff Ross: Take a Banana for the Ride at the Nederlander Theatre and Jaja’s African Hair Braiding at Manhattan Theatre Club. Off-Broadway, her work has been seen at Playwrights Horizons, Signature Theatre, New York Theatre Workshop, MCC Theater, Ars Nova, and many others. Regionally, her work has been featured at major institutions including Steppenwolf Theatre, The Goodman Theatre, McCarter, Baltimore Stage, Arena Stage, Studio Theatre, Chicago Shakes, Berkeley Theatre Rep, La Jolla Playhouse, amongst others.

An interdisciplinary Argentinian theatre maker based in New York, Stefania draws inspiration from the limits of human behavior, the irrationality of our nature, and the primal and animalistic instincts buried beneath societal norms. Her storytelling flourishes in vibrant and controlled-chaos atmospheres where media design interacts seamlessly with live performance.

Passionate about non-traditional forms and experimental theatre, Stefania’s innovative work has earned her widespread recognition. She is the recipient of the 2023 HOLA Award for Outstanding Theatrical Design for her work on Vámonos. As well as a 2022 Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award nominee for Outstanding Projection Design in Space Dogs

In 2024 , Stefania was named top 100 Latina Powerhouse by HOLA and her work has been featured in prominent publications such as La Nación.
